Are Procell batteries any good

Are Procell batteries any good?

There cannot be many adults in the UK who haven’t made use of the simple battery, and most of us will have some in reserve, somewhere in the home. Our latest guide sheds light on the Procell range of batteries.

What kind of batteries are there?

There are many types of battery but the most commonly used are alkaline batteries, zinc batteries and lithium batteries. The type of battery is determined  by its chemical composition. At cableties-online, we stock alkaline batteries by Procell.

What are alkaline batteries?

Alkaline batteries contain alkaline manganese dioxide (compared to zinc carbon cells in zinc batteries). The alkaline manganese dioxide gives the batteries a greater capability in high or continuous drain situations, and a much better performance at low temperatures.

Who makes Procell batteries?

Procell batteries are part of the Duracell family of battery products (they of the Bunny and the copper top!). They were introduced in 2019 as a replacement for Duracell’s ‘Industrial’ range of batteries.

Advantages of Duracell Procell alkaline batteries

The Procell alkaline battery offers significant benefits over other batteries. These include a much longer shelf-life of up to 10 years, depending on which battery. They also offer the user a reduced risk of leaking, good resistance to corrosion, plus a broad working temperature range.

Procell batteries and the environment

The heavy metals that some batteries contain mean that the correct disposal of batteries, in line with government guidelines, is essential in order to avoid environmental damage. Procell batteries contain common metals such as steel and manganese plus others, none of which pose any environmental or health threat. In addition to this, Procell batteries have been completely mercury-free for 30 years.

Duracell Procell batteries for professional end users

The Duracell Procell range was designed for industrial and commercial use and is the battery of choice in many industries, including manufacturing and the television and film industry. A premium, quality product, the Procell battery focusses on the professional battery market.

These are highly recommended for electronic door locks, safe boxes and security cameras. Procell batteries are also ideal for daily, domestic use such as in torches, toys, keyboards and smoke/carbon monoxide alarms.

Operating and storage conditions for Procell alkaline batteries

Manufacturers advise that Procell alkaline batteries should be stored in a clean, cool, dry and ventilated area. They should be kept at a temperature between 5°C - 30°C (41°F - 86° F). The batteries have an operating temperature range of -20°C - 54°C (-4°F - 130°F).
